The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
My Name is Chris "Smokey" Hoyle (Nickname relates to the Big Lebowski)
I was Born December 29th 1977 in Blythville, AR
I started playing disc golf at the age of 14 with my uncle vernon in Lebanon, T.N (cedars of lebanon state park) I wasn't immediately hooked, I played on occasion for fun & owned a Gazelle, a Shark & an avair. I didn't really get hooked on the game until 1996 when I moved back to TN and started playing My Home Course Henry Horton State Park near Columbia, TN, it is at that park I honed my skills. Everyday after work at the carwash I went to HH and played 3 or 4 rounds, practiced drives & putted until dark. I started playing tournaments as a rec player in Nashville, TN at 3 rivers. When I moved to O.H in 1998 I kinda stopped for a year then found Ottawa Park & David O'Shea who told me I was really good & he really honed & brought my game to a new level I had never experienced.
My first local tournamnt was played in 1999 Random Draw Doubles & MY partner was Tim Grabowski. I remember me telling him i was sry i sucked so bad & rember tim really helping my game, making sure I was relaxed & had a good time & we won! I was hooked. I played about 3 or 4 am-2 tournaments with the highlight winning the 2000 Mark Ellis Lizard Lawer Doubles B tier with ricky gryza (tying the open score)
David O'shea encouraged me to go from am-2 straight to pro that year, I took several beatings before I figured out what smart golf was and my first unofficial pro cash was at the 2001 Ottawa Park Spring Fling ($80 for 2nd to guess who, tim grabowski)
I am very happy to win the Inagural TADGA points series in 2003 Winning the
BG Spring Fling, Norwalk Open, Ottawa Ice Bowl, and several other small events.
After that I haven't really played allot of sanctioned events. I now have 2 wonderful children one of whom Loves Golf just like his daddy. I would like to make a run at the 2008 TADGA points series & have my sights set on that goal. I am even renewing my PDGA membership.
wish me luck!
