The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Having no permanent course on the island gives us the advantage of experimenting with new course designs. At Sand Island Beach Park, we can get a permit to set up a temporary course and run monthly tournaments in a small area of the park. On Wednesdays, some of us use the park casually and sometimes experiment with redesigning the tournament course.

Yesterday we tried a new course design to make a par 69 “Gold Course”. Five of us showed up and played this monster that had 8 par 3s, 5 par fours and 5 par 5s. This totally changed my thinking on the course to where I ended up playing against the course instead of against my fellow players.

I think this beauty will be making a few surprise appearances at our monthly tourneys.
