I played a single round by myself at Gower today. I haven't been able to get in touch with Bill since he called a couple of weeks ago. I was +2, but really played a little better than that. I missed an easy birdie on #4 by clanging an easy putt off the chastity belt. Then I bogeyed #5 to go up one. I also took a penalty stroke on #9. I had a great tee shot that just drifted across the outfield fence and into the softball outfield.
Other than my play it was an adventuresome round. I threw a second approach disc on # 4n just to see how my sidearm would do as compared to my backhand. It drifted just into the overgrowth and disappeared. I hunted and hunted and finally found it in a narrow creek bed back there that drops straight down about 4 1/2 to 5 feet. I had to fight my way through heavy thorns that tore up my legs and arms badly. I also had to crawl through poison ivy to get in and out. So I rushed home, threw my clothes in the washer, and scrubbed in the bathtub.
I also took a small tub of S-hooks and repaired the 6th, 7th, and 8th baskets. Number 8 was the worst as it was missing 4 hooks. It was getting hard to get it to catch a disc. I sure wish that the city would finish the 9th tee box. They poured half a box about 4 weeks ago and left the stakes and forms on it. I would think that they would finish it just to get the rebar out of the ground, since it is a safety hazard.
