The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

A few days ago I posted a blog entry asking people to fill out my "How Many Courses Have You Played" survey. I also sent out a message to my friends on this site (about 100) with the link to the survey. So far there have been 35 responses, so I thought I'd post some preliminary results.
As you can see by the pie chart, fewer than 20 percent of the players who responded said they had played ten or fewer courses in their career (Two had only played one course). About a third (34.3%) of the respondents said that they had played between 11 and 25 courses. Interestingly, one-quarter (25.7%) said that they had played more than 100 different disc golf courses. One respondent from Milwaukee who has been playing disc golf since 1997 said that they had played 1,000 courses! (I'm jealous),

If you'd like to add your answers to the data, go to this link to respond to the survey: http://rizbee.HowMany.sgizmo.com

It's only three questions long, so it should be easy to do! You'll have to cop and paste the link into your browser. I have tried using the "add hyperlink" tool on the blog editor, but when I use it the link doesn't show up. When I simply paste the link into the blog it isn't treated as a hyperink...

I'd be very interested to find out how many courses this Milwaukee player had to play a week to hit one thousand in 10 years.
I've been playing since 1976 and knocking down a LOT of courses over the years and am still at 822!
I have listed EVERY course I've played and even went back and researched and found courses that I'd played that I hadn't listed. I'm afraid that I'm more skeptical than jealous.
Last year, I contacted the PDGA and some other Disc Golf entities in hopes that they would find an interest in sponsoring my "One Grand Disc Golf Tour" and got pretty much zero interest even though I have held the "unofficial" record for courses-played for several years, I'd planned to do clinics along the way, updated course directory entries (since the "directions" protocol in the directory is based on my suggestions) and blogs outlining the trip.

I have played all 822 courses without the benefit of sponsorship (with the exception of the Japan courses...thanks Shimbo!!) Now I'm hearing about at least a couple different guys attempting to gain sponsorship to go out and do this. Maybe I didn't "sell" the idea well enough, but I'd like to think that I've been a pretty good ambassador to disc sports over the years so naturally it comes as a surprise to find that players much newer to the game are getting backing for something that I was attempting a couple years ago. All I can say is "take an ice pack, some Aleve and PLEASE read the protocol for giving directions to the courses". Submitting the directions properly will be a bit time consuming for YOU but it will save EVERYONE ELSE time and gas.
Good luck.
(PS...anyone interested in sponsoring my remaining 178 courses...by all means, let me know!!)

Rizbee, that's weird that the hyperlink isn't working for you. Here is a live link: http://rizbee.HowMany.sgizmo.com.

You can write the HTML direct for a link, though, if you know how. I'll see if I can figure out how to show you, if you don't and if this issue continues for you.
