Good times. Sort of. I'm not really playing very well, contrary to the progress of my rating. Interestingly enough my rating bumped from 954 to 961 with the update at the beginning of this week. That is actually contrary to the level of golf I have played thus far in 2008. Since the last update I have played golf at a 959 level. My rating actually only went up because of the elimination of poor rounds played in 2007, not the addition of hot rounds played in 2008.
I don't remember when I last posted. I'm assuming it was after BG Ams when I recognized that I could throw some decent distance all of a sudden, which is quite nifty.... since then I've done a lot of field work, a lot of throwing for distance in the field (playing with my new toy, so to speak), a ton of putting. I've played a few tournaments: Rock Creek Shootout, Bluegrass Open, Spring Hyzer... maybe one more. It is all really starting to blur together, I haven't had a weekend off since February and I don't have any planned until late May. I believe I have one weekend in late May and then the second weekend in June before Amateur Nationals comes around.
AmNats is my ultimate goal this year. I want to play hot there, everything is geared toward that weekend to be honest. Right now I feel like I've done a bit to fix my putting and get myself ready for the summer season. I'll be playing Open at Loco at the Mills this weekend to get a little more experience against stiff competition in. I'll be playing Open at a tiny local C-Tier in Ottawa, Ohio next weekend but I don't think the competition will be as stiff, a couple of heated players but most will be up in MI. After that its Thrills at the Mills in Advanced, a few more in Advanced... and then AmNats. It is coming around so fast.
After AmNats? Open for good. Discraft Westside Challenge, Brent Hambrick Memorial Open, lots of fun things including no longer being called a bagger (I believe the proper term for me will be 'donator'? Yep.
This week has been a lot of putting and preparing myself. Tomorrow I'll be playing the courses at Hudson Mills to zero in what discs I want to huck this weekend, Thursday an hour of putting, Friday a few rounds, and then tournament. Good times. Hopefully I can sell some more of my used discs to fund things, but it'll be rough. I'm starting to run low on those fund things. This whole thing where I play a tournament every damn weekend and where I don't have a job is pretty tiresome all told. I'm starting to deal with nagging injuries. I have issues with one of the tendons connecting my foot to my leg? Lower shin, but not a shin splint (I thought it was a shin splint but it just doesn't fit). Left knee is bugging me on occasion. My back on occasion. My right quad. Just all over random crap.
The week off near the end of May and the second weekend in June should be pretty helpful in keeping me from beating myself up too bad before I go to play the Toboggan all weekend for Amateur Nationals.
Anyway, thats all for now. Back to randomly surfing disc golf websites.
