I am sitting in a Subaru dealer's lobby right now, though. Getting spark plugs and belts replaced. I knew this was coming, and I got an oil change earlier and decided to get it all done today. Luckily I expected it in the budget and the timing, though it's the 2nd nice day so far and I am missing out. I was going to get both State parks here in Wilmington, DE in tonight then head north, but it looks like I'll just get one then the other tomorrow morning.
Already played Roland Park in Akron PA this morning. It kinda sucks, the woods are too tight, no fairway, who keeps letting these people design a course?? (No offense or bad feelings meant). There should be a reasonable route on every hole, and without having to land in poison ivy. It is very hard to navigate, but has good tee-pads and becomes fun towards the end.
Then I played Anson B. Nixon in Kennett Square, PA. It is also too tight (sometimes) and very overgrown. The guide says it is well maintained-but I ran into knee high grass full of ticks and thorn bushes in fairways. I was told by locals they recently lost 4 holes due to "environmental" concerns (though walkers, dogs, kids are still allowed to use that piece of land..) and had to rush together the last 4 for an upcoming tournament. They are way too tight and rough right now, brand new and not finished. It is EXTREMELY hard to navigate, took me 5 minutes to find hole #2 and 20 minutes to find hole #10, and some baskets don't match the tee sign numbers etc.
I found a BRAND NEW 174g champ rhyno, unmarked.
Tell me where and what color you can have it back, invest in a Sharpie next time, and you'd have gotten it back already.
Probably going to play Bellevue State Park tonight, after I get out of here around 4-5:00 and check in and shower. I'd rather save Brandywine for the first, fresh morning round. I have heard good about it.
