I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I've played tournaments every weekend since March 1st, and I'm still waiting for ideal conditions. I know you can't have perfect weather every weekend, but I haven't had low winds, warm weather, and solid teepads yet. Not once. We're talking 11 weekends in a row, going on 12 here. It has either been 20+ mile per hour winds, rain, or as was the case this past weekend: teepads made of mudslicks.
I might play two tournaments this weekend. I'm playing Thrills at the Mills at Hudson Mills tomorrow. That'll be rough, stiff competition for sure. Sunday I'm not so sure about. I wasn't planning on even thinking about tourney golf on Sunday, but I'm going to a party on Kelley's Island up north of Sandusky on Saturday night. Sunday morning there's the North Coast Open at East Harbor State Park, less than seven miles from where the ferry to Kelley's Island docks. May as well support a new course, right? Depends on the weather.
My doubles luck picked back up. After finishing at least tied for first in six consecutive doubles events (Ottawa Shorts, Ottawa Longs, Vienna Shorts, Vienna Longs, Norwalk, and Ottawa Shorts) I lost at Vienna Park Longs on Sunday. Coming in today I didn't feel too good, everything was sore. Quads, Hamstrings, Back... but I got paired up with one of the guys I promised I'd get from Rec level in early March to cashing at Am Nationals level by June and we tore it up pretty well. Started slow, were only -4 through 13 holes. We finished out birding 14, 15, 16, 18, 19 and walked off with a -9 and the tie for the win. In the playoff Justin threw to 25 past one's basket and I canned the putt for the win. So I've won three consecutive doubles events at Ottawa outright, and at least tied for first four consecutive events.
Hopefully some of that luck can carry over to singles competition tomorrow.
