It's been over 4 weeks now, hit over 90+ courses.
Today I played doubles at Buffumville with Jeff. We didn't win. Then played back 9 doubles for 0$ with a different Jeff, didn't win or lose, tie.
Charlton, MA- Buffumville Dam:This is mostly a really nice course, with 27 holes, a distinctly separate back 9. Most sign posts still have #'s and lengths, but there's always vandals. The tees are short cement, with a crushed rock run up, they work well. It is about half in and out of tight man-made pine forest. Some open holes, nothing just purely open. There are some extreme signature holes, like the 600'+ shot off the dam onto land below with water on the right, and the 600' uphill twist in a wide tunnel, and the basket perched on a hill so steep it's hard to walk to it let alone keep a disc under it, water below. There is one hole, just one of the alt. pin placements, that is based on pure luck. You bomb over pines blindy, hoping to come down and crash in, or lay up to the base. Then shoot 150+' uphill to the basket on the edge of the hill, and it's so steep my missed putt rolled that far after landing flat, then across grass, into a lake. One drive landed in the woods and slid/rolled 100' back into the lake. Beyond scenic and challenging.
North Grosvenordale, CT- West Thompson Lake:This is a great course overall. There is a map, and scorecards, but the signs have no length/fairway graphic so grab a card. The tees are dirt, but not in bad shape. It is well-used and maintained. It winds through some thick woods for some short holes, then goes out into a field for some longer open holes, with plenty of trees. A 660' uphill along the side of a levee hole is signature. There is a basket perched on a hill 10' from the lake, followed by a drive onto a peninsula. Have to play it if in the area.
