The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
I got a call first thing this morning from the Parks Dept.: "Have you been out to mark the locations for the tees and baskets at Montiel Park? We thought you were going to use sprinkler flags and the contractor didn't see any out there." Well, I don't think I was dreaming when I adjusted the flag locations on New Year's Eve, so I guess someone had decided to "borrow" my flags. My daughter, Katie, and I high-tailed it over to the park to see what had happened. Sure enough, all of the flags were gone. This time we brought wooden stakes and flourescent ribbon to tie on. We met Holly from the Parks Dept. on site and Holly gave us a few cans of spray paint to use to mark the outlines of the tee boxes. Oh, BTW, 76 degres and sunny out for our tasks!
We spent a few hours setting out the stakes and painting the tee locations - our friend Danny showed up to help. Along the way we tweaked a few of the locations - found a great little depression in the ground near the location for hole #2 that would make an interesting pin position just above it, so we made an adjustment. You can't walk the plot of land enough to find all of the interesting nooks and crannies. Anyway, we'll head back out again tomorrow to make sure the stakes are still in place. There's a good chance the tees might be graded tomorrow and we may get tees poured by the end of next week. It all depends on the rain...
