Did not get much done today as I did not leave NYC until around 11, and it took well over an hour to get to the first course.
Manalapan, NJ- Manalapan Recreation Center:Very nice beginner course, has signs and is easy to play and is extremely short. 3 holes under 150ft! It circles around a soccer field on the fringe of the park in some nice trees. Most holes are very open, but gaurded pins creating 'tough' shots. Basket #7 was lying on the ground in ruins, behind a fence, why I don't know.
Vineland, NJ- South Vineland:A tournament-worthy course that is still in the making. Completely playable but a bit rough on the edges on just a few holes still on the back 9. Soon to have tee signs. Easy to follow without them, due to arrows on the baskets (good idea). Has some serious par-4's and some signature holes worthy of playing. Very unique. One hole is about 500', along a lake, slim fairway between water and woods, curves left, then the basket is tucked up on a hill behind some trees. The land is perfect for disc golf, and does not fit in with this region. It looks like it belongs in Nor-Cal or something, sandy woods with pines and vines, exposed root systems. Thanks for the T-Shirt SJDGC.com.
Vineland, NJ- Landis:A fairly easy non-technical course in a busy multi-use park. Consists of grassy lawn with tall trees, no rough, no hazards. Most holes you can throw any way you want but they have a basic layout to teach shots. Has some good length, lots of holes over 300'. Good signs, mostly not ruined over the years. Dirt tees marked by wood boards.
