Worth taking.
Wow this place is intense, two course both tougher than about any course this side of the Mississippi river. Today felt like over 100 degrees, so it was very hard to get through the day.
I played the first round with a guy who often stays there when in the area mountain biking, the second with Spencer and Tony. Shot 71ish on Woodshed, was playing well on front 9 of Whippin' Post, with several long putts and good saves. Had to actually throw backwards toward the tee on one hole to get a better lie for the next shot, and one shot hit a tree and rolled back to me 60'!

Paw Paw, WV- The Whippin' Post:
The woodshed is the more open and longer course. There are mostly long semi-open holes, well designed with placement in mind, often placement to get the good 5. It is well maintained, actually was being mowed at the time. It is massive, tough, technical and fun. There are some insane short woods holes, where if you don't get through, which I could not on any of them, you are lucky to take a 5, or an 8, or a 10..kid you not. One time my rollers couldn't get through without hitting a tree. It's fun because it's not rough and you can't really lose a disc or get ivy, just play smooth putter shots, take your lumps and know you're not the only snowman out there. The Whippin' Post is more in the woods, but more open woods, with tight fairways, placement, cliffs, a pond shot and more. One hole is nearly 900'. It ends with a shot over a pond with a dock between you and the pin to clear/skip off. I got my one and ONLY 2 of the day on the first hole that round, with a 45' putt. In general, if you 3 any hole at all here, you are happy, even thrilled. If you get a 5 usually you don't even worry about it. It's that tough. Go check it out.

Almost forgot to write about this incident this morning, I overheard a woman in the lobby at the hotel talking to the manager, she said "Well, I wouldn't worry about Obama winning the election, at least he'll probably be assassinated", and she sounded genuine like a real conversation..wow..

Oh, to be 23 again...

I'll end my comments on this particular thread direction - not interested in political flame mail.

I can bring my view to them, I argue politics with strangers openly. If it doesn't work, I can beat them senseless (if they had any to begin with) and kidnap their dog.

I don't necessarily think that (all) people in that area want to see him assassinated, but that they just expect that it could happen. They just can't fathom having a black president - it's not within their realm of possibilities.

And (speaking as a political scientist) you're vote wouldn't be worth more there - it would be overwhelmed by the votes of those who think differently than you.

Unbelievable that someone would hope he gets murdered rather than have him as president, I mean if he was a republican but he's a democrat! (just kidding folks). She wasn't kidding however...I should move south so my vote counts for more.
I already downed well over a gallon today

Sounds like some great tough courses.

I'm glad to hear you're getting a taste of more than disc golf on your trip. A road trip like the one you are on can teach you a great deal about our country and its people. I don't think the conversation you overheard is anything out of the ordinary for that part of the country. You wonder why Hillary won the states in that area? There's your answer. Obama will have a very difficult time getting the votes of white southern or mid-Atlantic voters.

Stay hydrated!!

West Virginia is not Obama country you are right about that! I am glad you got to experience Paw Paw I would just say "I told you so." I did not get a chance to meet you in person but thanks for touring our disc golf area, you hit pretty much all the major courses and a lot of the minor ones and I enjoyed your write ups. Sounds like you hooked up with a lot of prime locals too!
