The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf
Well there it went...pretty similar to disc golf. It was short, it was in the fairway, it faded a bit early. I guess I will need an upshot to par this post when most bloggers would be putting. Ah, such is life.
Its Winter in these parts. The green wallpaper on this website will look familiar in about six months. Right now, the white space beneath the type is what I am seeing. Yeah, I am still throwing in the winter as I assume are most northern discers who visit this site. I am playing less and playing less well. Poor footing takes its toll on lower rated players. Its still a delight to get outside this time of year and play. I bike a lot in the winter as well. In fact I bike more in winter than I do in summer. Thats probably because I am throwing a lot in the summer.
Getting outdoors this time of year helps keep me sane. Some people buy light boxes. Some buy a ticket to a warmer climate. I buy a few pieces of so-called activewear and just take myself outside. I am a happier guy and much more fun to be around if I get a chance to throw or ride outside on a winter day. With proper preparation its no big deal to get out in the cold weather. Today's garments are much better suited to outdoor play that the long johns and heavy woolen things I wore in my youth. Hands and feet can get cold. So, I can put hand warmers in my gloves. I used these when I played Cold Turkey the weekend after Thanksgiving. My game was cold but the hands were toasty. The best under $20 item you can buy is a balaclava. This lightweight facemask will keep your face and nose protected in very cold temps. You will look like you are robbing a bank but will need only some overstable plastic to deal with a cold headwind.
Its supposed to get to the upper 40's this weekend. Gotta get out to league this Sunday in the slop. Maybe I'll wear shorts. :-)
