The big 50 on July 4th 2008

Having a birthday on such a huge US holiday is weird. Everyone is partying and blowing stuff up. They're all happy and glad to have a work day off to do fun stuff like barbeques, hang with family, watch the fireworks, etc.

I had a very nice weekend, pretty mellow, played some video games and hang out with my wife Cathy. It was a nice weekend. It's fun to get a few things from friends and family. I scored some nice Huk Lab clothing and a few $'s ... Sweet!

Monday was back to work. Pretty much the usual stuff all day. Cathy showed up just before 5:00 PM and I was very surprised to have her throwing a birthday party for me. A lot of people showed up, and we had a ton of food and fun. I spent a good deal of time out in the front yard of the office throwing putts with kids, parents and friends.
Thanks Cathy! You made my 50th very special.

Best part of the whole event was my friend and co-workers wife Joy coming up to me saying "50?" ... "50 ... No way you're 50 ... I thought that was a joke ... my mom is just a few years older than you!" I'm happy to be in good shape for an old guy, and I'm always happy to have people say I look, and act, like I'm much younger. I mean ... How many 50 year olds do you know who can spend a whole weekend playing disc golf, or PS3?
I hope I can stay young forever!
