Following the Miniac, and other disc golf mapping stuff

Many of you have seen the Google maps that I have been working on to display Ben Calhoun's disc golf roadtrip. Well, my old friend Gregg Hosfeld heard about Ben's trip and decided that HE needed to be the first person to play 1,000 courses. Gregg has been playing since the late 1970's (when there weren't very many courses) and to date has played over 800 different disc golf courses. Back when I published the first Course Directory back in 1985, Gregg was one of the best sources of information for updating the directory, since he drove back and forth across the USA playing comedy clubs.

Now Hos is on his own road trip, and I told him I would put together a map similar to the one I have been working on for Ben, You can see this new map at: Miniac Road to 1,000

You can also find his blog at http://www.onegranddiscgolftour.com . I'm not sure why he isn't blogging here at discgolfers'r'us (as I have encouraged him) but it's worth checking out, 'cuz he's funny to read.

I've been travellig recently on my own road trip (which will be documented soon) so I'm a little behind on Ben's map, but I should be caught up soon...

Once my camera is sent back to me by the Syracuse Airport police I'll have a few pictures of the Sabbatus fountain to post.

Terry - I'm working on a way to combine Ben's two maps into one using Google Earth. This would also allow me to add Gregg's on as well. I'm also trying to get caught up on their maps after my vacation. :)

Ben - could you start adding your course count number to your entries? It helps with the racehorse aspect of this. Right now, I'm only about 620 behind Hos!

Ben definitely has the youth advantage, but I'd bet on Gregg's quick feet and hard head, not to mention the 300+ course headstart. You guyz are both my heros! Make sure The Magnolia Course at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park makes both your lists! :)

Hey, Rizbee, any way to easily combine the maps and routes? That would be fun to watch.

646 (disc)/655 (mini courses included)

Does a course with hugely oversized baskets count as more than one course? Or does that photo foretell the new movie sequel, "Honey, I shrunk the Miniac"?
