The worse you get.

Or, so it seems anyway. Since my average score has increased a few points in the last month.

While not anything in particular... if I were to point out a desparity or inconsistency somewhere in my game (based on my usual play) I'd say my putting is where I've dropped the most. Maybe it is just a subtle change in throw or stance that I didn't notice that is causing it. It's hard to gage.

I think playing through these times, (don't stress on it...just keep trying to be more consistent) is where I'll get some improvement. If only in my mental game. It's just the burnout & fatigue from substandard play that has me worried.

• Maybe it's simply the need for a break and go do something else for a few days.
• Or limit my play to only the weekend for a couple of weeks.
• Or just go and practice my drives and putts and not play any rounds at all.
• Maybe I just need a change of venue and play somewhere else
• Or Play disc golf on my Wii instead

So what do you do to break the rut? the down-turn?

Thanks for the comments guys. Both were very helpful. I went camping this weekend and spent about 45 minutes on Sunday and set up my portable catch basket and short-putted just within my sweet spot and a few feet outside it. No pressure, no worries, no thoughts... just putt-putt and putt. It felt good to build a routine I can use for each and every putt or approach shot. And my short game seems to have straightened itself out a little. Progress is always good.

Confidence. Once you get into a slump, you tend to slip noticeably and can't improve without a bit of field work. Get out to the field with a basket, and then do putts from a distance you can hit every time.

Don't move back. Don't go for more difficult putts. Gain confidence. Hit them all. There's a great video on discraft's youtube page on this sort of confidence building. Check it out.

Hows it going man, I feel you on the rut thing. I had a really similar putting slump and my rating has steadily stayed in the mid 930's for some time but that is about to change. Putting was the big problem and I used to be a very good putter with lots of daily practice sessions. Due to Military and being lazy after work I dont practice my putting and it was killing me. 15footers were scaring the heck out of me during tourneys.
Recently I fixed my putting slump by developing a pre putt routine that was simple and Identical every time. As soon as my routine is done I throw the putt, no extra pumps, dont care what the thought is, just mini, stance, look, three pumps, breathe and then putt. I practiced that for an hour on my basket, 20 minutes the next day before league, and then proceeded to make every putt inside the circle that league. I am now going to try and transfer the theory to my entire game and hopefully get to where I need to be before worlds in ten days.
I am not saying my routine is the best but it works great for me, especially after a two year slump. Just thought maybe it will help you develop a routine that might work for you. And so you know, the best disc golfers might not play every day, but they practice almost every day. Shwebbie informed me he putts about a half hour every day and he is a tourney winning machine.
