Thursday (8/7/08) I went out to Hudson Mills for a fun day with my 4 year old son, Ethan, and 2 year old Olivia. Ethan was excited to be bringing his new DGA bag! Initially I was thinking about playing the original course but I decided to ask Ethan which course he wanted to play.......what four year old wouldn't prefer to play a course by the name of "the monster"...... I decided short tees would be tiring enough for their little legs.
the round started solidly with four birdies on the first six holes. Parked 2,3,and 5....hit a long jumper on 6 after a poor drive. Parred 7-9.
Pulled out one of my favorite discs on the tenth tee (290'), Discraft 2005 players cup Edition Z tracker. strong tailwind behind me and realized that it would fade harder back than usual once it reached lower speed. Ripped it flat and hard along the right edge of the fairway avoiding the tree guarding the center of the fairway. There is an anhyzer and hyzer route to the bucket just have tio avoid the major trees in center of the fairway. The tenth bucket is guarded on the either side by large pine trees. I've never really seen a green like this hole before and that basket will always stick out in your memory if you've played the course. You never wanna end up on the wrong side of those trees as some angles allow for no putts. Anyways the disc ripped nice and flat along my line. It looked pretty good halfway to the hole.....so I hopped to the left side of the tee to get a better look at the basket.....as I did I saw my disc hyzer fade hard into the chains and home for my second ace!!!! The angle was just right to avoid hitting the evergreens guarding the basket. This ace will take a long time to beat as far as best/sickest aces go!!! Me and my kids went nuts with high fives and fist bumps. Ethan was really excited and I let him collect the disc from the bucket. It was exactly two weeks ago, almost same time of day (around noon), that I hit my first ace.......going have to play again at the next two week anniversary!!!!ahah
end up finishing the front 12 with one more duece---carding a 29 (-7)......played the back 12 less spectacularly.....four birdies. carded a four on alternate #A and #14. Parked 16 and 18 (which I don't usually). Ended up shooting 34 (-2) on the back 12.....ending up with a personal best on the monster course(short tees): 63 (-9) .
what a great day!! finished the round with a Peanut butter & jelly picnic. Grabbed Ethan a 150 class leopard @ CJ's party store and headed home......
