The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

You know, outside of Greater Cincinnatians (for those of you who do not know, that includes NKY and Cinci) I would not think that too many individuals know about Idlewild Disc Golf Course. Since I have started using this site, I have found others from all around that have great pix of Idlewild and some even have it listed in there top 5 courses. This is amazing...

I am not the historical-type or someone who knows a lot of history of DG BUT I do know that it seems others are just in love with this course as those of us in this area.

I am in awe when I search this site with "idlewild" of all the stuff that one can find. I also noticed that it is one of the more popular tags (front page this date). I know a lot of locals have a love-hate relationship with the course but those of you who have never seen it, please checkout the pix.

Also, you may want to check out cincinnatidiscgolf.com. Just happy to see that others are getting exposure to this wonderful course.

This year's trip was a huge success despite the wicked storm that blew through on Friday and Saturday. Between Banklick and Idlewild we played 89 holes (our lowest total ever for this trip).

No aces this year, but my buddy JR canned a 180-footer for a deuce on Idlewild #3 and I managed to card my second "4" on Idlewild #6. My son and I also each carded relatively easy fours on that 1,001-foot hole you've got out there -- #15?

Oh, and I finally got my first "3" on Idlewild #1.

All in all, we had a great time -- and cleaned out every one of your local BBQ joints of their brisket and ribs.

A warning to all you Idlewilders and Banklickers: It's almost time for our annual road trip to your neck of the woods. A few of us Michiganders will pile into the hot-rod Lincoln and invade your fine courses the first weekend in May.

We'll be the five guys wearing shorts and tee shirts in 55 degree weather, carrying heavy coolers and grinning like we just woke up in Disc Golf Heaven.

I've contacted a few folks in the area about getting a video tour of Idlewild for my show, but nothing has come to pass yet.

If anyone wants to shoot some video and share it with me, that would be great.

Idlewild deserves its own blog thread, definitely. It's the highlight of the DG road trip my friends and I make to that area each year. Every disc golfer should experience this course at least once.

My personal favorite Idlewild moment was carding a FOUR on Hole 6, a twisting 588' rollercoaster where it takes three perfect shots to get inside the putting circle.

Thanks to all the members of Idlewild for maintaining each hole with such care. See you in the spring!
