It got up to 108 (literally more than double the temp. in the mountains this morning) today, another reason I don't understand why anyone wants to live here..I say let 'em, it'll be less crowded back East that way.
Weaverville, CA- Lee Fong:Begins flat through small, low oaks in a grassy field (real, live grass!) with the first two holes having a creek on the left lined by nasty thorns, I lost a disc and found 2 there. It opens up for a few holes, then there are back-to-back doglegs with mandos and a basket on a hill on top of a pile of rocks. Finishing with a few holes on the side of a hill, with precarious putting. The last hole is on the edge of a hill, parking lot behind it and to the right and it's downhill. 12 baskets, 18 holes, the first 12 are easy to navigate though the signs have been ruined, the wood frames are still there and the baskets are numbered. Cement tees, well maintained other than the thick rough along the creek. No poison oak found, bathroom, lots of parking, very isolated town down winding mountain highway.
Redding, CA- Enterprise Community Park:Dual cement tees, very well marked. Longs are significantly longer than the shorts which are super short. Several holes overlap and criss-cross, one spot has 4 tee pads within a few feet of each other, and near a basket. The open holes, about half, and pretty open and not shady, so on a hot day like this it just hurts to be out there. The wooded holes are really tight, typical California throw at a wall of trees and hope to get through type. Discs skip like mad on the dirt/dead short grass fairways, hard to stay under a basket. No poison oak on course but just outside of it. No OB/water/lost disc potential. Supposedly will be gone in a few years I was told.
Anderson, CA- Anderson River:Well marked w/signs, cement tees. Has NO baskets currently, tone poles. I was told baskets are due in in just two weeks! Rough and scratchy terrain of high grass, rocks and gravel, thorns, bushes, vines and an insane amount of little lizards running around. Some sketchy park users..methheads and guys along in the woods wearing way too short shorts. Several OB roads, mandos. Some poke n pray lines, low ceilings. Lefty friendly. 2 holes require landing in gravel lot area, real bad for your disc. Hard to spot the course and hole #1..drive into and through park from directions..park in gravel area by old building, #1 behind it towards trees.
