Still waiting to find good courses in Nor-Cal besides Lake Tahoe..

This last one was just bad all around..hard to enjoy golf like this.
Due to the rashes developing fiercely on feet, knee, behind the knee, back, chest, chin, right wrist and neck from poison oak (likely from just one course..Lake Selmac in Ashland, OR)..I won't be playing any holes or courses that have it bad..so I had to skip a few drives today.

Ukiah, CA- Mendocino College:I don't know what to write about this course without undoubtedly offending some people. It's just plain un-enjoyable at least in this shape. The grass was 2-4' high, with this weed that acts like razor wire and actually cut my legs open to where they bled..just from walking up the FAIRWAY. The woods holes had poison oak right up to the baskets, in vine and tree form, several times so widespread you cannot avoid it. The tee pads are rock and dirt. Signs are temporary and don't show the hole or next tee, and the tees have no directionality-hard to tell which way to throw! I threw the wrong way completely on #3 because the real basket was tucked JUST out of sight, as were about 6 baskets, and you might already know I despise that design aspect. Several woods holes were just silly tight..forcing unusual throws that MUST get lucky or cannot penetrate the woods. Hot, limited shade and very windy. Hard to find the course once there, it's behind the school from the parking lot. Several nice holes similar to what you might find at Hudson Mills though. One over-pond shot. Not fun for me, but I'm sure some people like it.

Looks like you avoided Stafford. If you swing back give me a shout and I'll show you around. We have 10/18 cement pads now and its mowed like no other time in history due to fire prevention and the recent tourney. Too bad you missed Ammon Ranch and Horse Mt. up north though. Have you ever been to Lakeport?

Thanks for the kudos (Tahoe's regional course designer & builder).
You are welcome at my place anytime.
Still, you haven't played our best and newest course in N.Tahoe. Check out my photos.

Wow I'm glad I skiped Mendo College when I was down there. It sounded like a weak course so I chose to skip it and play Low Gap and Boonville instead.

Be careful at Stafford Lake, though, Ben. I love that course but am told that is loaded with Poison Oak.

I hope you play Low Gap Park in Ukiah - it's enjoyable. I think you're in the vicinity of Stafford Lake near novato. It's a must-play in that area. And of course the new Golden Gate Park course in San Francisco.
