Finally got to get out to some of the '08 worlds. Took my kids Ethan and Olivia to Albion, MI on Thursday to watch the pros play a newer course that I had heard was great.
Pulled into the parking lot as all of the A pool was finishing up. Must've misread the schedule. After getting over my initial disappointment of missing the world's best players I wondered what I was going to do until Pool B teed off at 2pm. Luckily I had put my bag in the car and decided to play the course until 2pm.
Victory park in Albion is a fantastic course....easily in my top five if not number #1. The front nine consists of mature wooded holes with plenty of trouble available if drives are errant. Loved it....actually birdied three of the holes. Lovely tee pad signs at each hole showed me the way. ( I plan to upload all my pics but am having lots of issues with the bulk uploader, to follow soon---search victory park).
then you hit the back nine.....this separates the men from the boys to speak as there is water everywhere. Waterfalls, creeks, ponds, etc. If you follow ball golf, think TPC in Sawgrass, Florida. Island greens abound with plenty of opportunities for penalty strokes. think I had to take off my shoes and socks three times to retrieve poor drives. Luckily able to recover all my plastic. Got to play 1-15, 18. I will definitely being coming back to this course a lot. worth the drive for sure!!!
we stayed and watch the pros of pool B once tee time arrived.....lots of great shots. Witnessed an ace on #11.
all in all a wonderful day at the park!!!
can't wait to go check out timber ridge on saturday
