Wow, this has been refreshing. I last played a tournament on August 2/3 in Norwalk. Next tournament isn't for another week, the Falcon Fall Classic on August 23 in Bowling Green, Ohio. This has been the longest stretch without a tournament for me since... Probably somewhere between January and February. It has been a very busy spring/summer for me in terms of tournaments, and I've seen a lot of growth. Right now I'm down to probably one large tournament, maybe two. Other than that it'll all be small events.
Schedule looks like this:
August 23 - Falcon Fall Classic (C-Tier)
September 14 - Back to the Hills (C-Tier)
September 20-21 - Wright Brothers Open (B-Tier)
October 4 - The Fly Open (C-Tier)
I'd like to attend the Pour House Open which was a great B-Tier last year from all I heard, and I had a blast at when it was a C-Tier back in 2005. With the Wright Brothers Open I may attend with Evan Hughes but we'd need to figure out a place in Dayton to stay. I'm sure with some inquiries I can find a place, though. I've heard great things about the event. And in light of the fact that I'm leading the points for the 2009 Ohio USDGC bid after one event I may as well show up for it and try to keep myself in the hunt (since a few guys like Brad Schick and Tyler Horne will likely get their bids in other ways like the Hambrick, there's a good chance I can get it even if they're ahead of me in the running for it).
In other news it's going to be good to be playing a tournament healthy again. I haven't really talked about this much since its kind of odd... for the past 85 days I've been on something called Bactrim for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Basically MRSA causes some nasty skin infections that can go downhill and causes fevers and pretty much wreck your entire immune system. I didn't realize it but I had my first symptoms back in early 2007 when an open sore became infected and left me with a cigar-butt sized scar on my right calf. That'd happen occasionally but I'd go on some weak antibiotics for it and they'd go away. They got worse early this spring, and I wound up on Bactrim.
Now, the MRSA wasn't causing any bad golf or me to feel bad other than some really fucked up skin infections all over and the occasional fever. It was caught kinda early. Whats been messing me up for the past three months is the Bactrim, which I've been taking at double dosage. Bactrim can cause cause dizziness, headache, lethargy, diarrhea, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, and rash. Thankfully all I've had to deal with is dizziness, headaches (countered easily by 2 ibuprofen every time I take it), lethargy, and nausea. I've been taking them every morning and dealing with that crap for up to six hours after I take it.
But on the 21st I'm off of the crap! 90 days are up, and hopefully the MRSA is eradicated from my system! Good stuff! Makes me incredibly excited, I don't think its affected my game much because I've been able to focus on my shots... but I usually feel pretty horrible all day long especially when I'm dealing with waiting between shots. It'll be nice to go through days feeling good again.
And now to watch the scores for round 7 of Worlds fly by. Go Matty O and Doss! I want to see Worlds contested, not just some blowout!
