More money, more problems? Not when you're damn near broke it ain't! So far I'm two tournaments into 2008, and 19 days in... I'm up to $210 in unsanctioned tournament earnings. It isn't much, but its a start. I took second today at the Columbus Ice Bowl, at the Hambrick Memorial Course. I actually tied for first with Geoff Bennett and lost in a sudden death tiebreaker. He got $100, I got $60. Sucks that I lost it, I was actually in with a strong lead after one round, he had the hot round by, I think, five strokes the second round and caught me.
But that's Bennett, there's a reason he's a 1012 rated player, right? And I'm just a 947 rated player. Hopefully that's changing soon. I've just got to keep tearing up these unsanctioned tournaments to keep some semblance of a cash flow going, or my family is going to decide that I need one of them job things that all the kids are talking about. I don't want one of those, so yep... disc golf or bust.
Next week is a sanctioned tournament, the Ottawa Ice Bowl in Toledo. Last tournament there I was sitting at the back end of cash in Open, playing trophy only, and fell off second round. That was my first tournament in Open. If I can play 990 rated golf I'll be more than happy, I should be able to. Realistically, the only thing keeping me from that on a round-by-round basis is my own mind.
Anyway, its been a long day. Dubs tomorrow at the Hambrick Memorial course I think and then the long drive back up to Toledo. Our car swept the top three in cash: Bennett, Myself, Ziggy. Good times. Doubles, home, and then a week of working out, field work, and then another tournament! Yay disc golf!
