The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

My wife Colette has a friend that she sometimes meets up with at the Brandon Town Center, east of Tampa, and a few weeks back she did again, so my daughter Celeste - whom I've been getting interested in disc golf - and I tagged along with her just because the Limona DGC is nearby. And I had never been. So we went.

It was a chilly, somewhat windy day, but the sun was shining and the course was pretty much empty, although we did run into a couple of dudes playing later on.

The park itself is not big, but it sports some interesting elevation changes along holes 1 ~ 4 and 10 ~ 13 (10 ~ 13 being repeats of 1 ~ 4 from different tees). Hole #1 is a straight shot downhill under a shady canopy, right to the basket - if that happens to be where the basket is. We had an alternate placement that was off to the right, much closer than the other basket placement, behind a rather large drain grille that would have swallowed discs whole. Watch out here!

Hole #4 is my favorite, teeing off from a nicely-elevated concrete pad 400' or so across and/or around a dried-out pond depression to the basket beckoning, taunting you in the sun from way over on the other side. That's OK. Second time around the course I birdied that one with a Champion Leopard, so there.

Hole #6 ends up in an elevated basket that's up on what looks like a big planter box, and makes getting to this one fairly interesting.

There are a couple of mandos in the park, on holes #7 & 8, with the one on 8 being particularly tricky for a RHBHer. Hole #9 is a really sweet, long wrap-around downhill and to the right, with considerable shule on the left and a big oak tree that shades hole #8 on the right. A definite sidearm shot for us RHBHers.

Limona has a nice layout with cool elevation changes, and apparently the disc golf course has scared off the riff-raff that used to hang out there in park before. I will definitely go back, especially if the wifey hooks up with her friend again some day!
