Went out to Neosho for the 2nd iteration of the Little Big Show. Last year I won the novice division but this year I felt I should step up to Intermediate.

We had good weather most of the day, it threatened to rain on us a few times but never did. The wind picked up a few times but didn’t last. However, there is a train track, (you can reach out and touch it on hole 14) that runs next to the course and there must be some god awful city ordinance that insists the engineers lay on the horn the entire trip through town. I think we had 3 trains go through that afternoon and it felt like it took fifteen minutes for each of them to pass. But, that’s my only complaint on the afternoon.

I lucked out and got put on two great cards, good people on both of em. I ended up finishing tied for 6th with Sam (one of the guys on my second card.) My buddy Don took 4th so we both walked away with some new plastic.

The course was in great shape, recently mowed and a lot of the rough was cut back from the fairway. The CTP and Ring of Fire were a lot of fun and a great way to entertain folks while the TD and his crew counted up the final scores. I almost won the CTP but ended up getting edged out by a ½ inch. Also Cody busted out his guitar and he and a friend played a few tunes during lunch. It was an unexpected and most welcome diversion between rounds.

I shot a 123 to finish the day, could’ve saved at least 10 strokes in there somewhere as the putting just was NOT on that day, I took several doubles but, I count myself lucky not to have one of the MANY sixes recorded that day. Add to that a couple trips into the woods and that’s how you find yourself in the middle of the pack. Still I’m pretty happy with it being my first Intermediate tourney. I got a couple fundraisers, (club tourneys) then the next big one on the schedule is the 4 State Open at the end of September.
