I drove from L.A. to Vegas today, playing one course 1/3 of the way here. I called ahead to Midas to get new brakes, and had them check out my broken A/C too.
New brake pads 4 wheels+ inspection: 250$
My condenser is leaking and needs to be replaced, I saw the green UV dye with my own eyes (felt like CSI with those goggles on and in Las Vegas), it explains why it doesn't work and won't stay cold when I fill it up. Problem is, they quote about 250$ and Subaru quotes about 750$ to replace it. I have an extended warranty, through a company that went chapter 11 a year and a half ago, and it hasn't been settled yet. After many confusing and angering calls, all I know is that I might not get reimbursed, if I get it fixed, or I might, and I won't know until who knows when, they don't know that either. It will be a serious hassle. I have to decide where and whether to get it fixed and pocket the cost for now..for 250$ I'll probably get it fixed tomorrow and hope and try to get that $ back, if not I can live with that since it's 108 degrees here. That's 500$ on the first day of the 2nd half of the trip, almost literally time-wise and in terms of me beginning to head East now. Ouch. I planned on new brakes and new tires, but hoped nothing like that would go wrong. 80,000 miles on the car that's had no other problems though..not too bad.
It's about to rain, and lightning is striking everywhere, so I may be stuck in the room for the rest of the day and not getting another round in. I don't gamble, so I won't be out in the casinos, but I could literally hit MGM grand with a good drive from outside my door.
Victorville, CA- Doris Davies:Short, mostly open and very easy. The first half have enough trees in an open grassy field to make fairways or well guarded pins. The last few are almost completely open, with #9 being over 450'. A small cement 'creek' comes into play. Well maintained, lush grass tees. Signs make it hard to see which direction to throw, facing different ways. #1 is by the swimming building NOT by the small circular parking lot, but the long driveway to the bigger lot.
