Ideas on how to approach your city about making a temp course permanent

We have a course here in Topeka Kansas that we are only allowed to set up temporarily...It is an awesome course and it would help put us on the map as far as DG goes...can anyone throw some ideas our way to help us out on making Big Shunga a permanent course?

See if you can come up with some reasons from the city's point of view why it would be beneficial. Would it attract more visitors and their dollars to the city (tourneys)? Would it promote outdoor, fitness related youth activities? Cities love to hang up "Your tax dollars at work" signs, maybe you could promote the public investment angle of it.

Produce a very professional course proposal with lots of pictures, diagrams and photos, and make a presentation to the town council on the benefits of establishing a disc golf course. Talk about the decreased risk of vandalism and other crime due to more use of the park, etc. If your local club becomes involoved, that will help you out. Good luck dude.

Ask The Bowling Green, Ky. group how they go about it. Ask John Houck and his crew about it. Show why it would be beneficial to have permanent design. From the pictures...it looks like you have the te pads already.

The reasons vary, from parking, and people living near there. I think it's more about the parking though...The land isn't being used for anything at all...it used to be used as a cross country course for the local high schools...

Have a list of other parks and those that oversee them making statements why the park benefits from a permanent course vs. a temporary one. ei. -less vandalism -much better baskets -park can benefit aesthetically developing the course as a permanent one vs. temporary through further development etc. I have just put one in at a school and instantly got approximately 1500.00 donated in trees etc. People just get more excited and are more eager to help with a permanent fixture vs. one that may be gone someday

It would help if you made the reasons for not making it permanent known. Is the land used for something else too?

We if it's as good as you say it is show the park board how much use it is getting and that it would be put to good use but really it's a struggle I'm having trouble with my own park board it depends on the area you live in
