The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

So I havent been on in awhile, so I thought i would give an update on how my 1st tournament went.

If you have been following my blogs that discussed the preparation I put into the tournament you would know that I set out with two goals in mind.

1) to finish 10 under par or less each round

2) to make the final group on Sunday.

Of coarse everyone's goals are to win, I thought these goals however would put me in position to try and win.

I am happy to report that I was able to complete both goals. I shot 60 and 63 at JP Moseley (even and 3 over) and 61 and 57 at Redan (7 and 4 over). The gentleman who won my division was a self admitted bagger ( who was just on the way up the ranks so no judgement here, he was good competition). I actually learned a lot from him in the 3 rounds we were able to play one another and I have to say he was a main part of my final round at Redan. I finished in third place one behind second place. Im not upset with myself as i gained 8 shots on the 2nd place guy the last round and I had a perfect 200ft flick out of the woods hit dead chain and flip over the lip on the basket on my last hole that would have tied.

I think my game took an immediate step forward and I hope to compete and hopefully win one tournament in the upcoming year. I have committed to go through Mark Ellis' putting program and I am learning how to harness my sidearm. Given improvement in these areas, i hope to get a couple rec wins and move up to Intermediate in the next year or so.

I have a ton of thanks to give out though. First, thanks to Rob and Drew who pushed my game and gave me the motivation to improve. Thanks to Mark Ellis who continued to answer my email upon emails. And thanks to anyone on this site who aided my quest for disc golf know how, I appreciate it.
