Febuary 11th and 68 degrees in Pennsylvania! Awesome! Merrill and Juddy Crink were actually wearing shorts and t-shirts. We were playing the Stretch R Out format, par 60 at Mushroom Manor Mini Disc GC in Lancaster. Merrill started his round with three O.B.s in a row! That really sucks but just goes to show that "Anything can happen at the Manor." even for the best mini player I know. When we got to the tee of hole 5 Merrrill was at the back of the card throwing last. I threw a super dupper heavy Inova driver (you know the ones) with a strong low hyzer through the trees landing about 12 feet long. Juddy threw a "thumby" up side down pin high . Det steps up to the slightly up hill 135 foot hole with the flagstone green in the shape of a mushroom and navigates his new, lighter, Inova mini driver into the left side if the basket for a HUGE mini ACE! That is a really nice long mini disc golf hole in one. Merrill earned five bucks from Juddy and I. Merrill later cashed in on another Bonus Buck when he hit metal from the tee on hole 6. ( Stupid lefty holes!) Merrill ended up coming from behind and kicking everyones butt. Juddy has only been playing mini golf for about one year or so and has given some of us veterans a run for the money. Juddy beat Merrill and Linc on the par 60 format with a 57. Merrill and Linc each shot 60. The second 18 holes we played the original layout par 54. Merrill shot lights out with a 46. We finished the last 9 holes in the dark. No problem! I just hit a light switch on the deck and all the baskets light up. My wife Lori even made hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill. So when it was all said and done Merrill won 5 bucks each from Linc and Juddy for the hole in one but owed Juddy one buck for winning the first round. Then Merrill got a dollar from Linc, Juddy and Donnie Brooks for the Metal Off the Tee Bonus Buck. Then Merrill got another dollar from everybody for winning the second round plus another dollar from Juddy and Linc for having the low score for 36 holes. (Donnie showed up late) Sooooo... Merrill took 7 dollars from Linc, 6 dollars from Juddy and 2 dollars from Donnie. Merrill got paid and promptly left. Not bad for some casual mini golf. One special note about the mini play tonight. Donnie showed up with a box full of the Aero Foil mini disc. It's new! More to come. These particular minis are the only ones of it's kind. Only 300 were produced. They are proto types. Still the mini performed well for only weighing in at 25 grams. Go to www.minidiscgolf.com and arrange to get yourself some mini disc golf history while supplies last.
