Day one is in the books. I think the heat index had to be over 120 degrees. I'm not sure what is was exactly but I do know is was friggin HOT. It wasn't so bad when we teed off at 10:37am but it quickly became extreme. So extreme in fact that a couple of the Adv Grand Masters dropped out because of it. I hope you guys are alright Doug and Bill.
Our round took us just over four hours to complete and I have to admit it was a bit of a struggle down the stretch.
I took Propel packets and used four of them in 16oz water bottles and drank another two bottles of water on top of them, that with a Monster and Red Bull and still it was a struggle to stay hydrated.
Now, we do it over again today. Thirty holes straight, with no break is almost like playing two rounds and it felt like it. I know as hot as we were, the Pros had to be even hotter as the last group teed off nearly four hours after us which meant the temperature alone was already in the mid nineties. That mixed with all the rain in the last week really pushed the heat index up to almost unbearable.
Well, time to load the cooler with more aqua and do it again. I think I lost ten pounds yesterday and although I could stand to lose another ten, this is not the way I'd like to do it.
Good first rounds by JD, Coda, Vinnie, etc etc etc.

Congrats to Coda on first place, a cool $1500 and JD for second for $1000. Also Vinnie for first place Open Masters. Shout out to some Flyers, Miles, Pepper, Brice, and Brad for cashing, way to go. Also honorable mention to some more flyers, Jeff, Gilbert, Shaun, Keith and Mike, nice showing.
Thanks Neal, Clay and B-rad, it was great playing with you guys, I wish we all would've played better but I had a great time.
A special thanks to Brice for a great tournament, and Tom for helping run it so smoothly. Also to all the vols for getting water out to the holes and spotting and anyone else I may have forgotten.

Day two was better, actually shot under par at minus two. Should've been alot better because we played from the blue tees. The thing I was really wanting to do was shoot better than last year which I did, by a combined twenty strokes. I still didn't throw the way I can but that's just because I can't seem to get my head focused on tournament golf for some reason.
The heat didn't seem to be nearly as bad the second round. The humidity was lower, the breeze was a little higher. The overall temperature was about the same, maybe a degree or two higher. The holes were slightly shorter too. Don't get me wrong it was still friggin hot.
Also, got word that both Doug and Bill are ok and feeling much better.
I'm not sure how I did it or even when but felt a slight twinge in my left knee and it continued to slowly get worse as the day went along. After the round I came home and iced it and then again later in the evening. Now, this morning, I'm on crutches again. I'll give it a few days and see how it feels. May finally be time for surgery on it but I sure hope not.

hehe. how did you do today dave? I'm looking forward to the fling at Vet in July, that heat is gonna be even worse, but I have never played 30 holes straight without a break in the heat we had this weekend.
