Day one is in the books. I think the heat index had to be over 120 degrees. I'm not sure what is was exactly but I do know is was friggin HOT. It wasn't so bad when we teed off at 10:37am but it quickly became extreme. So extreme in fact that a couple of the Adv Grand Masters dropped out because of it. I hope you guys are alright Doug and Bill.
Our round took us just over four hours to complete and I have to admit it was a bit of a struggle down the stretch.
I took Propel packets and used four of them in 16oz water bottles and drank another two bottles of water on top of them, that with a Monster and Red Bull and still it was a struggle to stay hydrated.
Now, we do it over again today. Thirty holes straight, with no break is almost like playing two rounds and it felt like it. I know as hot as we were, the Pros had to be even hotter as the last group teed off nearly four hours after us which meant the temperature alone was already in the mid nineties. That mixed with all the rain in the last week really pushed the heat index up to almost unbearable.
Well, time to load the cooler with more aqua and do it again. I think I lost ten pounds yesterday and although I could stand to lose another ten, this is not the way I'd like to do it.
Good first rounds by JD, Coda, Vinnie, etc etc etc.
