The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Why is it I have signed more "Ace Discs" then a freaking tour pro. I am so sick of going out to my home course and watching people I never see out there ace the holes I have been shooting at 3 or 4 rounds a day, 3 times a week for two months. Not really its cool, just cant help feeling like "always a brides maid, never a bride", however that saying goes.

yeah, I guess what gets me is, you can almost feel it when someone is going to do it, and in my case, its always the guy that shows up half drunk and already screaming all loud as soon as he shows up. Or in my latest case, someone that I played with a few times at a course 30 min. from here and he happened to drive all the way out here just to ace while I happened to be looking. Or my brother that never plays. I brought him out with me one day when I was bored.... and he aced hole 7 at my course. Its an easy hole, but I've never aced it damn it.

i am in the same boat kinda, i have one ace to my name but in the last couple years i have witnessed 13 aces from fellow disc golfing buddys, it has became a joke between my disc golf budds and myself that i am the lucky disc golf ace charm, as i have witnessed way more than anyone else i play with ( probably because i play way to much disc golf LOL if there is such a thing as way to much )

the upside is i think some of my peeps actually believe i am good luck, and dont hesitate to invite me along, i have to say though, although it is fun watching other people ace a hole, as you said it sure would be nice to get another one for myself, i have been close many times in the last couple years, heck i hit the pole on one couple weekends back, i guess i cant complain as i do have my one ace, and considering i always told myself before i got that one, that i could die a happy man if i just got one before i died, i meant that as a figure of speach, i just didnt figure that the powers that be would make that litterally be the csse !!

It will come to you, aces are funny like that. Seems how you just started, I would say just give it time. For an ace to happen so many things have to go right in one throw, I guess that is one of the reasons they are so cool even as a witness. The release, the distance has to be right, the hyzer/anhyzer angle, even skip-ins, or shots that are deflected in off an object have to go just right. On most aceable holes there are several routes to the basket that could be ace runs. Now hitting one of those runs could be another story. Now I only have 2 aces in about 4 years of actual play, and have hit lots of chain, basket, wedgies that fell out. And a lot of the courses I play don't have easy ace runs except a few holes here and there. Now I'm not going to go practice for an ace, if it happens, it happens. I would rather work on being within a drop-in putt or at least 10m of the basket. Throwing for an ace is a very different game. I am just going to keep on practicing looking at all of my shot options on the tee and working on different shots that will provide more shot options in the future. Keep on hucking, you'll hit one! Then two, and so on.
