The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Its funny, I always joke about it, but im coming to the realisation that I'm addicted to buying plastic. I think its the feeling I get when I see that carton sitting on the table for me, knowing it contains new plastic for my collection. I've currently got two more orders on their way, I order off a bunch of different sellers so I can get a good variety of discs. At the moment, I'm getting heaps of putters, specifically black ones. I've ordered a Black Soft Banger-GT, Soft Magnet, Magnet, a Blue Star Aero, I just got an Elite-Z Breeze, Elite-Z Hawk, an awesome blue-purple swirly star Valk (I'll take a photo soon and post it, it looks mint!), and an Elite-Z Surge as well as an ESP Surge (I'm going through a Surge phase, if you haven't thrown one, buy one!). The Surges take a while to beat in, but they're great drivers and I'm thinking they will become my primary driver.

When the Aus dollar goes up a bit, I'll start buying collector discs again, but at the moment they are too expensive (If a disc is US$50, it comes out to AUD$80, then I have to add shipping, which makes it way expensive!). I've got nearly every driver on the market at the moment, so I'm moving to the realm of midranges and putters. I've discovered the Star Cro thanks to my mate Dave, who recommended it and it compliments my Buzz perfectly, but then Nate Doss in his new video says the Hawk is excellent, so I'm keen to give it a try. The newest putter that is feeling pretty good for me is the Soft Magnet. I like the idea of the softer plastics for putting, and this disc just flies perfect for me, so I think i'm gonna change to it. The only problem is that they seem to beat up REALLY quickly, so it just means I have to buy plenty of spares. Perfect, another excuse to buy more plastic. I think I might have to invest in one of those Steady Ed ultimate discs as well (At US$200, I think the disc golf set is a bit too expensive for me at the moment). I mean, a disc with the founder of our sport's ashes in it? Thats hardcore collectible!

Also, I've been entering every competition where I could possibly win a trip to the US. I want to get over there to play a heap of different courses, and just load up on disc golf stuff while I'm at it. Speaking of which, Subway has a competition on, and today the chick behind the counter gave me six scratch cards instead of just the one, so I've gotta go get them and enter. If I win, hopefully I can come play some rounds with you guys Stateside, you never know your luck!

Hey Peter, definitely will consider going to Michigan when I get over to the US, everyone seems to talk about how great the DG scene is there! I think Michigan and Cali are like the Mecca of disc golf, so I cant wait to check em out.

I share your cravings......in fact I think I'll head out to the local disc golf store and peruse their stock over lunch. Their landlord sold the building the store is in and they are having a "going out of business sale" until the can find a new location.....

if you ever make it to the states consider a visit to Michigan....great courses everywhere!
