I could use some advise from anyone that has ever started a new course or has ever been involved in the proposal process to parks and rec.The park is a 70 acre park with plenty of unused acerage.Any advise on the process would be much appreciated!!!!

Hey Ian,

just an fyi...
Snapper had "contract in hand" for a course at Chollas a few years ago and it got yanked by the city in the 11th hour. I'm not sure if he has the time to talk about it and I know he was VERY, VERY hurt by the city jerking him on it and maybe doesn't even want to talk about it. It was a great design though. All this to say... be careful, they screwed us once there,

Peace

Great blog man...Ive been wondering about this very thing. I live in"the city of parks" and most of said parks are rarely if ever used.

BTW, I am NOT offering my consultant services :) I am waaaay too busy. But I could do one phone call to share what I've learned about collaborating with officials of various sorts.

Since you are in San Diego, you should contact Allen Risley. He is on this site as RIZBEE. He was instrumental in getting the course in San Marcos designed and installed and is working on getting approval for a course at Cal State University San Marcos.

Also, check in with the San Diego Aces. They are a very active local club. They have a website and forum where you can get lots of local support from some very enthusiastic disc golfers.

Ian, I'd be glad to have a phone conversation with you if you'd like. My number is (734) 355-0431. I should be available most of Sunday, but my time is promised already, basically, until then.

Better yet, contact them directly and ask them to mail you a couple full color brochures. They speak volumes and promote the sport in a very professional manner.

Go to Innova's site and pull up their "disc golf course developement plan. You can hand this straight to parks and rec.
