Sheila and I have a flight from Detroit to Atlanta this afternoon, followed by a drive to Augusta in a rented car. The tournament begins with a players meeting tomorrow, Friday, at the International Disc Golf Center
We're competing in the PDGA Tim Selinske US Masters tournament
, an event that until this year had always been held in California and managed by Tim Selinske - a great guy who died last year and will be missed on the courses.
I'm looking forward to seeing the IDGC again. It was a project that took hold while I was on the PDGA board of directors, so I have seen it when there was nothing there but a meadow and woods. When Ben and Hosfeld passed 1,000 courses played, I flew there to be with him and Gregg Hosfeld during that round. (Ben is at 1,073 now.)
Best of all, better than the great courses, is the line-up of wonderful disc golf competitors. It's bound to be a great weekend. Sheila and I will try to share some stories and photos. If you are a DGRUS member and at the event this weekend, please say "Hi," we'll have a gift for you!
