We drove to Kansas City yesterday for the Teepad Open at Cliff Drive. It was PERFECT!
I got my best friend, Ashlyn to go with me. She needs to work on her temperment during the rounds before we go to Worlds; she gets easily frustrated shortly followed by turret-like outbursts. This was good practice for her. I finally got the chance to talk to her about my concerns; I want her to go to Worlds and have an awesome experience. I don't want her to get disqualified because of her attitude- that would ruin our vacation. I also let her know some simple things like she might focus on her game better if she didn't talk so much and she needs to not be so whiny in general or I won't be able to tolerate her staying with me for a whole week. I've been wanting to talk to her about it for weeks; I'm glad I finally got to.
I also had a chauffeur (it was awesome not having to drive for 6 hours) and a caddy (my shoulder's still not 100% so that was nice), the weather was awesome (90 with a slight breeze; not too hot, not too windy) and I LOVE the course. Cliff drive starts out with lots of trees, elevation and rough terrain. I managed to do very well on the front 9 and was leading the group. Since I was playing with one of the KC Pro women, Tavish, I was pumped to be ahead! The back 9 holes were long and mostly wide open. Tavish pulled out some game and shot almost even on the back. I went OB on one hole and gave the lead away to her. I'm still proud of only losing to a Pro by 4 strokes; i think my game is finally finding some consistency.
Gotta give MAJOR PROPS to KC; they have the BEST courses around, in my opinion.
