I got over being really sick yesterday and not sleeping well and getting hardly any sleep. When I showed up for registration it looked like death warmed over. The day started out with a decent down pour of freezing rain - my hands were damn near frozen. It didn't take long to warm up throwing drives, upshots, and putting. I had to bust out the raincoat and umbrella just to help keep dry. About half way thru the round the rain let up and it was partly cloudy. After the first round the sun popped out and most of us were in t-shirts, so it turned out to be great disc golf weather.
The first round was pretty frustrating with bad disc selection, mental errors, and just plain bad throws. I could have easily shaved off 7-10 strokes looking back on it. I learned from the first round as I pulled out a better score the 2nd round. I didn't completely learn my lesson as I selected some of the wrong discs again. During the 2nd round there was a controversial throw that was called OB because water surrounded the disc as I pushed on the center. I remember from the players meeting there was casual water on hole 18, not that "ALL" of it was OB. I should have thrown a provisional and played it out to ask an official afterwards - I didn't. All in all, it was a fun day and had a good time...other than being sore and tired. Being in this state really made me a little irritable...but as they say..."that is golf."
First round was a 67 - 13 over par
Second round was a 62 - 8 over par
If memory serves me, I'm in 2nd place (currently - by one stroke) and was tied for last after first round.
We have 27 holes tomorrow at Kincaid Park, 18 from pro tees, then 9 from closet AM tees. I'll be ready this time...not going to make the same mistakes I did yesterday. Play it conservative and let the others make the mistakes...
