The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Its been a minute since I have posted... mainly because I have been working on directing my first event which is scheduled for February 7th. Its so much work, I had no idea. But I am proud of the work I am doing and I believe I have done a really good job. I have managed to conduct a tournament without having to come out of pocket one penny, I raised 800 dollars for the local foster home, set a record in ga for recreational sign up, and managed to get a pretty good professional field with former PDGA rookie of the year Brad Hammock and top 30 in the world Kevin McCoy plus top 10 woman Courtney Peavy!

I did it all at just 25 dollars per entry for all divisions.

So one can understand why I havent blogged, even though not many read them anyhow.... LOL.

Being an Intermediate player of almost 2 years, I am amazed at how much I have progressed both game and pleasure wise. I truly love this game and everything about it. I mean I was a recreational player a year ago bugging Mark Ellis for sidearm tips and staying up till 2 AM reading disc golf articles online. I now feel like I could teach a side arm to anyone and serve as my own self correcting coach. Not saying Im the best at a sidearm, but I definately understand how it works, how it goes bad, and how I can fix it.

I have truly up'd my involvement in the game as well. I am now the ADGO Membership Director, volunteer at every event I attend, and I am even running events.

whew! lot of work lately.

PS- Absolutely chomping at the bit for that groove!!!!!!!!

Way to step up. I am new at the sport but have found that I thrive on putting together tournaments. Non-sanctioned are a blast, cause if something doesn't go exactly right....oh well, we had fun. I find myself setting around between functions thinking of different side games or other ways to entertain the troops. Keep it up.
