The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

This was my first ever pdga event in the States.
It was enjoyable but could have been better in a couple of areas.

As an am senior grandmaster i found it kind of dumb that i had to tee off at 7:30am three days in a row.  I never play dg before 11am, my old body doesn't easily allow it. From the 3 Palms it was a1hr run out there .... 6:30 plus a half hour to get up makes it a 6am start to play dg, just plain nuts from my point of view.  get the young guys up to play early ... send the gm's out at 11am or later or shotgun it.  Another thing dg is supposed to be realitively fun ...... none of us grandmasters ended up under par.  The game is about making birdies, with the holes set up as they were am gm arms don't have the power to get there ..... nobody finished under par.  It should be more fun ... short tee boxes, different angles more chances of birdies.

One other thing that could be better is a better player party. Rent a rec centre gym, put on a catered $10 banquet, get everybody there pros and ams and do some partying, 6pm to 10pm dinner's on. We do it here for our BC Senior Games feed 3500 people and we get to see everybody from around the province and renew acquaintances.  Just good good clean fun.

If you want good events for older guys, the pdga is not the place to look.

Given what you've said above, I think you'd be interested in joining Peter Shive's Divisional Tour Newsgroup: http://discgolfer.ning.com/forum/topics/join-the-divisional-tour

I have been getting the emails for a while now and they do seem to be a strong advocate for the benefit of players masters age and up.  I'm sure they have addressed many of these issues before.
