Erica and I met to play at Gower this evening. I threw for a while waiting for her and it started raining once she arrived. We waited a few minutes and the rain cleared up so we started off. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th holes play in heavy woods and once we were in there we could hear the rain start up again and was falling on the canopy of trees. We finished the 4th and could see that it was coming down pretty good, so we stopped at a nearby picnic shelter and waited it out. After about 5 minutes the skies cleared off and we finished the round. I saved par on 7 and missed a sure birdie on 8. I was still at even par and my tee shot on 9 drifted across the outfield fence and landed pin high in left field! I had to take a penalty and go back to where it crossed the fence for a bogey. Since we had done so much waiting we didn't go around a second time and only played nine holes. I had parred every hole til then so I finished at +1. I should have birdied three or four holes, so I was a little disappointed. But I guess that it was okay for playing in the rain.
I was amazed at the amount of trash on the wooded holes. I may take some large yard bags over and pick up some of that stuff. It is mostly old beer cans.
