As some of you may know, I'm kind of addicted to disc golf, and I have only been playing since the spring of this year.
So to be even more active in the disc golf community I decided to organize and run a tournament.
What a lot of work to organize just a small event. It was challenging but very rewarding. It had its ups and downs, but turned out in the end.
This started out as an all novice event, the Tree Bangers Tournament. This event was to introduce new and beggining players to tournament style Disc Golf. I didnt want to exclude everyone else. So I decided to include a Wrong Hand Challenge for better players.
All novice players shot both rounds with their dominate hand, but all other players had to use their wrong hand for the entire second round. It was alot of fun and laughs with discs flying everywhere, It was like having a entire field of newbies out there.
The reason for the Wrong Hand Challenge was to show more advanced players that using their wrong hand can be used for more than getting out of trouble, and most players where shooting better by the end of the second round, once they figured out what the heck they were doing haaaa!
While I remember to do so I would like to thank:
DGRUS for the stickers, the Calhouns are just excellent people and I hope to meet you all some time in the future
The Guardians of Recreation for the DVD's, you guys rock! I got to get out there and play some rounds with you both!
Hardcore Hyzers.com for the golf weight mini's... opps thats me haaaa!
Disc Golf Canada.ca for CTP donations, for bringong your plastic to sell, the coffee to warm up with and your help at the end of the day! Lanca your one awesome disc golf chick!
Brantford Disc Golf Club for the killer novice CTP package... which Mrs Hardcore Hyzer won, and the use of their score port. Proud to be a member of the BDGC!
AND ALL THAT CAME OUT TO PLAY, with out you it wouldnt have been possible!
I look forward to start planning next years Tree Bangers Tournament and Wrong Hand Challenge to make it better than the first.
Shoot it up
