hey folks ; fort walton beach fl disc golf course had its 1st tourney today 1/24/2009....thats cool ....its been less then a year since this 18 hole course has been open. i couldnt play cause the doc put me on a 6 week no twisty, stretchy ,pully , of the obliques, so the tears i got in my left side can heal situation (among other things) this is the third time my left side got sore, first time i was just new to the sport , & thougt my abs / oblique muscles were just sore from use ....i just kinda played taking it easy . second time it got sore same place left side, it got a lil sorer so i didnt play for 4 days. it felt fine ,on day 5 i went to the course to play...... did 15 min putt practice ( exellent advise mark ellis, having good results) felt great went to 1st hole & threw a forehand drive..... i dont think the disk left my fingertips yet when i felt a severe burning intense pain in the same place, left oblique . i dropped to my knees & found it terribly frustraiting & painful as i launched a few choice words.....loudly !!!!!!!! i had a doctor look at it the next day because I am on several meds from heart by pass 6 weeks ago & started bruising in a few spots on side ,& was concerned about internal bleeding among other things. the doc didnt take any pictures , just a blood sample & said i have some micro tears at the oblique.... 6-8 weeks no twisting etc. has anyone else out there tore anything down there??? 100% recovery?????? throwing long drives no problems????? sure would like to hear some good reports PS i finished all 18 holes, while holding my side....rolling the disk...etc : got a 3 over par with 75 foot putt on 16 for a birdee.....thats pretty good for this newbee.......no aces yet but that putt still makes me smile...... go mojo....ching!!!!

Frank,

I am a disc golfin chiropractor in MI. The last year or so I've been doing this technique called Koren Specific Technique or K.S.T. It is not one of those three times a week for six to eight week ordeals. It's fast, and gets you back on the course quicker. Do a search on K.S.T. and watch the videos. You can find a practitioner in your area. It is the discers dream adjustment.

i am right handed & i do throw R H B H alot : but since i had heart surgery recently i have only been throwing short drives & putts rhbh. , so i give the chest/ split sternum a chance to heal well. for the longer drives i have been either rolling or tossing the disc right hand fore hand ,with the 2 finger flick toss, ....this toss dosent pull on the chest area as much as rh bh. although when i do the rhfh toss, i tend to lean over to the right thus stretching the left oblique

Left side? Just for my information, are you throwing right hand back hand?
