The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

My father passed away Tuesday this week. He was a soft spoken southern gentleman. If you are wondering what this has to do with Disc Golf, my father was the Los Angeles Park Superintendent at the time that Pasadena's Oak Grove Park was put in. After I had been playing disc for a while, I was staying the night with my parents in Stockton on the way down to the Wintertime Open in Pasadena. Dad asked me where we were going to be playing in Los Angeles. When I told him Oak Grove Park in Pasadena, he looked at me brightly and said,"I approved that course." I was a little taken aback and got the story. So not only was he a great father and gentleman in general, he was one of the reasons that we are all able to get out into the woods and play the game we love.

Roger

Ditto, Roger. My dad died at age 57, 24 years ago and it was like a truck hitting my house, and repeating it over and over for years. How very cool that he was a part of what now gives so many people so much fun.

Condolences from Sheila and I. You, too, Mark. Sheila and I are giving your family a virtual hug right now.

Hey Roger, Condolences on your loss. On the same day your father passed away I lost my father -in-law. I just returned from the funeral as I write this. The world is full of unexpected coincidences. Give your family a hug from me.
