So, this has been one of the best and worse weeks of my life.
First the good news:
I ran my first tournament: the JP Moseley Ice Bowl. Aside from the Pizza guy being late, it ran better and faster than expected. It was a ton of fun and I have had nothing but rave reviews from the players so far. I added an island green to the course and we (locals) have decided to make it a permanent addition to the course. I definately toughened up the course and proved what it could be. It was so beautiful, we had mid 70s weather and light winds. The pros shot some good rounds with the lowest scores getting to 6 under, which I am very proud of. Last years event someone got to 12, so it shows just how far the course has come... the 8000 ft doesnt hurt either. It was a crazy system to run but I managed to get it done and get it done smoothly. I had a lot of help from the locals which made it a lot easier.
Now the bad:
2 days before my event, my wife decided that she wanted a divorce. A lot of factors went in to the decision and i dont mind sharing the jist of it:
We were high school sweethearts who got unexpectedly pregnant. She has never dated anyone else and as she has been going to college she has determined that she wants a different lifestyle. She wants someone that shares her interests in music and art and she hates sports (football and disc golf).
One thing i must mention is that even though I tried to keep it quiet the word spread during the tournament. The disc golf community is very supportive and was a great support group. I really appreciated all of their advice and hospitality.
So I have been focusing on being a good father and trying to get through all of this. It was definately a hard thing to swallow and it made Td'ing a tournament so much harder. But I feel like I did a good job and will have pictures up by the end of the day so feel free to check them out!
And always... Please leave comments.
