The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

As many of you know, last Saturday, June 20th, two baskets were stolen from Weatherford DGC.
At this time we only have 174.00 in our course fund due to the recent transfer of over two thousand dollars for cement teeboxes. We cannot afford the replacement costs at this time so instead of the normal mini on Saturday, July 4th, we will be running a fundraising mini.
This will be a singles event with the ace pot in effect, along with CTP's. We will try to have CTP's for all eighteen holes if possible, depending on sponsorship. I will tell you, we have a few autographed discs from Avery, Barry, etc.
It won't all be plastic either as we should have some nice swag throw in as well. The entry will be very reasonable although we haven't finalized that just yet.
The cement teeboxes should be in the ground by the end of July and we would like very much to have these two baskets replaced by that same time but we really need the disc golf community to come together and help us out this time.
I can't thank everyone enough for the early show of support and I hope everyone can make it to this event.
Entry fees and times will be announced soon.

I would like to extend a Thank You from the Weatherford DGC to everyone that came out and made this fundraiser a success. We will be transferring the needed funds to order the two missing baskets today. Again thank you everyone for helping us out.

The Weatherford July 4th Fundraiser will start at 9am, sign ups at 8am. $20.00 entry and close to $1000.00 in prizes for CTP's on every hole. Maximum CTP's are two per person so at least nine different winners. All money from the entries will go directly to replace the two stolen baskets. Please join us for this special event.

We had an excellent work day, we welded all of the remaining baskets, they're permanent now. We also built a bridge over the creek on hole three and removed the railroad ties from the teeboxes and scraped them so they are ready for cement.. Very exhausted but we accomplished alot yesterday.

As far as the July 4th Fundraiser goes, 9am start times but come as early as possible, we'll be there around eight to set up. I really appreciate all of the support that has been coming our way from accross the country. It's overwhelming, the entry is going to be twenty dollars and the average CTP is going to at least double that. There will be some very happy golfers at the end of the fundraiser.

Ok, the momentum is definitely leaning towards the normal 9am start time. Entry fee seems to be fine at 20.00 with most everyone. The CTP format also seems to ok with most people.
I will try to finalize everything today so we can get flyers up at all the Funkytown courses.

Tentatively we are looking at a 4pm start time so as not to conflict with other local minis.
Also, we are looking at an entry fee of 20.00 for now but may lower it before the event.
There will be a max of two CTP's paid per person so as to spread the wealth around.
However if you hit three or four, you will have your choice of prizes.

For all who see this: I have a design that strongly discourages stealing. 3 or 4 bags of cement, the pole is bolted in a sleve, the plastic pipe holds the basket at the correct height, put rebar in the center pipe, bolt basket on the bottom inside the pvc, bolt the top on and theives have to think twice because it is not real obvious how it is all fastened together. It is also very friendly to low shots that are on line, more like the trees we started on.
