The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

I've been laid off for over a year. It sucks and there's no way to describe how easy it is to be pissed off at the fat cats who took our money and went home to the Hamptons. But...this is the year I discovered disc golf, where green's fees are, well, free, guys dress like the comic book shop owner from the Simpsons, sometimes the smell of Willie's favorite herb mixes nicely with patchouli as forest elves and hot hippy chicks cavort, and in my case I get to play a course that's wooded, difficult, and relatively easy to get on and play a quick 36 holes. So when I'm having a day of frustration and my "real" job of songwriter (which is also pointless because of the changes in the music business that make it impossible to get paid for our work) is not going well either I have somewhere to go that keeps me in the present and works every bit as well as meditation for quieting the mind.

This is a hell of a sport and I'm not sure I'd be handling this year well without it and the people that I've gotten to know through playing and paying attention to the on-line community. And yeah, it doesn't hurt when you start throwing where you want to throw...

Not sure why I'm posting this except to say thanks to the disc golf community...

I played a buttload of disc during "The summer of Ian" - when I was between opportunities. It really is a great way to at least stay at least happy and healthy.
