I am going to just start this off of on yesterday's experience (18 April 2009) where I played with 16 other boys (with me as the only gal) at Twin Rivers Disc Golf Course in WA. What I didn't expect is to win the tournament with them based on the handicap system. Yes, I was able to win and in the process I got a new Fade Gear bag (Blood Red) and two new discs (Innova DX Orc and Discraft ESP XL).
The course it self was rearranged since the flood had washed out hole number six. So we had placed a temp hole over by the bathrooms down to the trees with the parking lot being out of bound.
Anyway - I didn't expect to be put in the same field as Mike Gay, who's the president of our organization (WDDGA). But I had a blast playing with him and I enjoyed it quite bit. It was nice. There were five people in our first group. It was interesting to see how "fierce" Mike is about disc golfing. It took me a while to get going, but after I had "warmed" up, I was doing better.

My second round was also with Mike Gay again! As I found out later, we were grouped because of our handicap scores. DUH! Anyway, I had a major case of bloody nose during this round. I just had a bloody nose for three holes..(Hole 9 - 11) It was frustrating because I wanted to focus on discing. Not the nose part! Anyway - the boys were teasing me about doing the swirl with the blood. What can I say? They're nuts but I love them! Also at one point, my disc had landed in an area of water - which the ground area had not completely drained from the previous night rain. Oh, that reminds me -- it was seriouslly muddy there at Twin Rivers Disc Golf Course.

-- I was totally bashful to find out that I won the tournament. I really didn't expect to win anything. At our last WDDGA tournament, I had came in 6th place, which was nice. But first place this time? Oh my gosh. I didn't expect that at all! Wow!
Anyhow.. when we got to the Pizzeria where we gathered after the game, the boys were giving me a hard time by being silly and how a "girl" had beat them at the game. All I could do is just smile and enjoy their wicked sense of humor.
Geee.. I really need to get more gals out to play with us -- how can I go about doing this. I don't want to be the only gal playing... (with an average of 16 boys to one gal????) That ratio sucks.. Then - thank goodness I'm a dyke who enjoys playing disc golfing..
