The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

Another Oregon Liquid Environment (OLE) Series Tournament has come and gone and once again I did not live up to my own high bar. I felt really good the first round and shot a 65 at Adair Disc Golf course just north of Corvallis Oregon. The second round was a different story my putting was HOT both rounds but the second round I shot a 70 :( My driving is killing my game!!! Conservatively I was driving twice on holes that should have only been one good 300' drive. Adair is not an "Easy" course with a good mix of elevation changes, wooded holes and long open shots. I only had trouble 4 times total across both rounds with driving into a tree and essentially having to take a second drive.

My problem is distance. On the nice open long wholes it is taking me 3 full drives to get into putting range which is cutting my ability to use my above average mid range game and forcing me to take longer and longer putts. For the most part I made all my putts so I am happy there I am just really disappointed that after 5 months of playing I am still only driving 200 feet... I've been working with some of the local Pro players and getting great advice and I am seeing that my accuracy on drives is improving and I am consistently throwing all of my drives within 20 feet of each other.

My goal for the next month (Until the next OLE) is to go out 3 times a week into a field (NOT THE COURSE) and drive 100 times each of those days. I am hoping that by doing this I can help to accelerate the muscly memory aspect of driving and improve my form and mechanics to a point where I am able to throw 300' consistently.
