The Community of Disc Golfers and About All Things Disc Golf

...and I'm one of 'em. So are eight other women I know; members of our Lansing MI disc golf league. We play every Monday night between April and November, pretty much, and like the famed faithful postal employee, it seems we are willing to throw through mud, sleet, hail, rain, snow, and gloom of night. You might be tempted to say we need to get a life, but we'd each say we have one, for sure!

As adults we are too easily thwarted by external conditions. You know the drill: it's too hot / cold / dry / wet / windy / whatever. But show a kid a mud puddle and you know what happens next: splish, splash! Well, last night we got to splish splash our way through nine holes of muddy, wet fun. We even had a seven year old girl who came along with her mom, and she never once complained.

Throwing in conditions ranging from drizzle to downpour was a blast. We felt like kids. Hey, we WERE kids and we laughed our way through the round, one soaked hole at a time. It's amazing what you can choose to do for the good of commitment and the love of a game. I feel like one of the luckiest female disc golfers around because of the fabulous women we have on our league and our founder, Erin Oakley, who brought us all together.

And no one melted!?!? We have a league like that here as well, the only time we don't play is when the course is under water and the cops run us out for our own safety; yes, that happened once. We play year round, because the now never covers the basket:) Happy discing ladies!

I love you guys and you know, I never see it as an accomplishment of putting a women's league together, but as a night out with girls who love disc golf, and who are such wonderful friends to be with in the pouring down rain;)

You certainly are, Jeannine, in fact, we MET on the course in the rain, thus setting a precedent for the future.
