It was spring and time to fling it. The weekend we all look forward to had finally came. Two days in Flo-town to showcase our game. Three rounds of twenty four lay in wait.Disc golfers came early and the usuals came late to put their skills forward that would determine their fate.Campers of all sizes, tents and hammocks all packed together are here in unison in perfect weather. From Memphis to Tuscaloosa, to Huntsville and beyond come to this hallowed ground and here we bond.Pros to novice and all inbetween to participate in the game that we fein. What was gonna be capped at 92 then swelled to one ten but through diligent determination, Russ, worked em all in.A roaring fire warming us with doughnuts and cakes from Kathy's kitchen and her heart she bakes. With instructions from the TD and pats on the back it's off to the show. ''Don't cut em no slack''. Mother nature is perfect and offers us her best.Gently tossing our plastic with a wind from the west.Round one went fast and nerves were finally behind us. So an hour to cram lunch , sustanence is a must.Round two goes smoothly and over half way we dash. with smokin hot rounds it's all been Clayton Nash! The night is filled with laughter and disc golf jargon runs rampant. We love this time , this place and are filled with enchantment. Many stay up too late and hangovers come early.Round three , promptly at nine , Two minutes.Whoops , that one got squirrely.Great shots are witnessed and an ace by Sweet ,now that was sweet, and after several more big runs mouths agape at top cards ''BIG GUNS''. The cheerful laughter is overheard as the rec women roll in gloriously celebrating Carin's big win.We come to the pavillion and turn in our cards.Soon our warm fires will just be chards. As the Corey's do the math. It's down to the wire. It's off to the top of the hill to play ring of fire. With the awards upon us the crowd pushes in, all wondering how they finished and did Clayton win. The tickets are drawn for the raffle and Jonathen won the basket. No more putting to a cushion on the couch , his grin he couldn't mask it. Andrew was fourth in advance and Corey finished well with strokes to spare and Kenny the wildman won. Man he is on a tear.Carin with a C became Carin with a W for winner. Her husband Geoff was second in rec and should buy her dinner.I won two years in a row with a rousing comeback rally and Pam finished her first tourny and made the tally. We exchange hugs and head home with memories in tow. Knowing that next year to Florence we''ll go.When it becomes time to fling it, this time next year, we'll gather together to play the game we hold dear. The total experience is what we cherish and our love of this wonderful game shall never perish.
