This past weekend, I had the pleasure of playing in a tournament. Not just any tournament, but The 10th Annual Flying Pig Open. The tournament was two days, 3 rounds total on two different courses. The first 2 rounds were at Harbin Park with 6 temp holes. I like this course. It favors those with a good arm, which I don't have. That being said, there are still par and deuce oppurtunities for the distance challenged. I unfortunately did not take advantage of those. First round, +22( got a prize for the worst round) and second round, +18 and won a ctp. Let's recap; 2 bad rounds and I ended up with a sweatshirt, 2 discs and a $20 gift certificate and I had a lot fun.
The second day was at a much more challenging course, Mt. Airy near Cincinnati. The first few holes weren't so mean to me, but then the bottom fell out! This time I finished +35! Once again won for worst round(a dvd this time). I swear it wasn't intentional. The AM players pack included 2 custom discs and a shirt. We were served pizza before the final 9 was played by the top 5 in open. That was a treat to watch! Discraft sponsored players showing why the are pros! And then we had a playoff hole for 1st. Congratulations to Tyler Horne for winning the Flying Pig Open!
To sum up, even though I am not very good, especially in tournament play, I will continue to participate. It benefits our local club, the PDGA and the sport I love. I was outside all weekend(cold mornings, beautiful afternoons) having fun with good people. Besides, I doubled my entry fee in prizes and player's pack stuff! I will continue my support.
