No, it wasn't a new Destroyer, nor was it a Revo bag. Nope, I already have a Mach III, it wasn't that either.
So, what was it, you ask?
Simply put, it was friendship, that's all.
About a week ago, a couple friends and myself decided to take a little road trip on Saturday back to my old stomping grounds. I moved about an hour away just over a year ago. The guys that went with me are guys that I started playing with after I moved and one had to cancell at the last second. That was a shame because he had never played the Lake before.
We actually started to just play a course closer to home instead of driving but two of the other guys had never played there either so we loaded up and headed out. When we got there, you could just tell it was going to be a great day. The sun was shining even though it was a little cool and the wind was blowing about 35 mph, but that was not to dampen the day. I started out very narrowly missing an ace on the first hole with a flick, using my Valk. I managed to par along for awhile and then on hole seven, promptly threw my first run Star Destroyer a hundred feet out into the lake because I tried to get cute instead of just throwing a huge Hyzer bomb. Oh well, it WAS a good disc.
As we came up around the corner to hole 8, I could see the Old Man was there taking sign-ups for the 1pm mini, so I went over and said hello. I also bought a couple of Boss' while I was there, and got a great deal, which is just another reason I am happy to call him a good friend. I said some quick hellos and returned to my group to finish our first round. I was far from being finished with the greetings as this course kind of does a figure eight with it's layout, which gave me ample opportunities to say hello to all my old friends along the way. Soff, Pineapple, Balls, Kenny G, Tom P, the Old Man, Nintz, Molly, Mike D, Sarah the noot, and everyone else I'm forgetting at the moment, I miss you guys and I'm glad to call each of you a friend.
So, when I think of the gifts we exchange with our loved ones, I have to be honest, one of the best gifts I got this Christmas was seeing some old friends and hanging out with some new ones, and playing two rounds of golf on one of my favorite courses too.
It sure was fun, it was friendship, that's all.
